About El Puma
El Puma Ecological Park is an animal breeding and rehabilitation centre in Candelaria, about 20km from the city of Posadas in the province of Misiones, Argentina.
The park is an iniative of the Ministry of Ecology, Renewable Natural Resources & Tourism, and depends on them for funding.
El Puma has three main objectives:
- the protection, conservation and restoration of Misiones flora & fauna, especially those species that are in danger of extinction
- the care and recuperation of sick or injured animals that have been captured by forest rangers, with later release back to their natural habitat
- to raise public awareness of the region's environmental issues and serve as an educational centre for those interested in studying the Misiones fauna
